Capricorn Mountaineering is a friendly and informal business with over 60 years rock climbing, Hill walking and Mountaineering experience. We pride ourselves on our expertise in the field of rock climbing and mountaineering instruction and strive to give our customers fantastic and inspirational days on the rocks or in the hills. We are;

Des Barnett has been climbing and mountaineering for 23 years. He has climbed extensively in Britain, Europe and the USA, climbing some of Yosemites’ Big walls along the way. He is a member of the Association of Mountain Instructors and has been involved in outdoor education for the past ten years. He directs Mountain Leader training courses for other organisations and acts as a Technical Advisor for several centres.

Des has a passion for climbing and the mountains and as an ex-teacher enjoys passing on his knowledge and skills to our customers.

Adam Bradbury is an ex-serviceman and a member of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines Mountaineering Club and has over 22 years climbing and mountaineering experience all over the world including 4 months based at South Georgia, and is a specialist in extreme cold condition survival techniques.

Originally coming from Derbyshire Adam has a passion for gritstone rock climbing and has a vast knowledge of technical equipment and logistics skills, and enjoys working with individuals or groups in any field regarding outdoor activity.

Jo Barnett has been climbing and hill walking for 20 years and is the Head of a large outdoor education and field studies centre. Formally a teacher of Geography Jo has a vast knowledge of our upland environment and landscape.

Jo has climbed throughout Britain, France, Spain and the western USA. Jo is Chair of the northern region of the Institute for Outdoor Learning and a member of the Association of Outdoor Education centres.

Rupert Ashcroft is a keen mountaineer with experience spanning almost two decades within Britain and Europe and has a particular passion for the Highlands of Scotland. Rupert has twelve years background working in outdoor and environmental education and is a keen photographer
